- Hello, Edmund,
-
- FYI, I did not purchase my Courier from the local authorised distributor.
- I am sure you are aware of their prices (no doubt due to many years of
- having a monopoly on USR products).
-
- However, the point here is _NOT_ whether I can get the latest SDL from the
- local distributor/dealers, nor is the point about whether I can get it from
- some local BBSes.
-
- The point here _IS_ that USR has an obligation to service and support _ALL_
- its customers regardless of their locality. I paid _GOOD MONEY_ for my
- Courier and I do NOT like to skulk around to some BBS and download the Flash
- surreptitiously. If USR is to honour its 5-year warranty on all Couriers
- (presumably), there is no reason why it should not be able to provide the
- after-sale support in the form of the latest Flash Rom. I am sure there are
- many Courier owners all over the world and especially in Asia who did not
- buy their modems from their local authorised distributors/dealers. These
- people _DESERVE_ the after-sale support with no questions asked. As for the
- part about the new Flash Rom wreaking havoc on the local phone system, let
- the local Telecoms deal with the problem, NOT USR.
